Heat and exercises. Moving and stretching

Hot and sunny weather makes us feel different. When it is hot and humid outside, sometimes the last thing that we want to do is tackle a workout. It is common to feel reluctant to move whether it is cool or warm in the room. The fact is: the body is not moving. Muscles do not get enough motion, fascias ( muscle membranes) do not glide smoothly and our bodies get stiffer.

It is time to modify your exercise routine. Unless you are a competitive athlete and having a competition in next few weeks it is good to focus on stretching.

Hot weather actually helps! Think about the hot yoga principles: Warm temperatures actually help the body’s mobility. Therefore stretching during the heat wave is more effective and more comfortable. Hot weather adds 5 to 10 per cent to our regular flexibility.

Please move in addition to stretching. Getting up and having a walk even around the room helps the blood to come back to the heart and adjusts the body to the hot temperature.

And keep yourself hydrated. Drink water before the exercise, during the exercise and after!
